Bella 2 Update August 16, 2010

Update Aug 16: Bella has been ridden all over the property and learns very quickly. We think she was definitely trained to ride previously. She still does not know all her cues - but when she is unsure of what to do she just stops and waits for clarification. This is an outstanding riding horse with her whole life ahead of her. Very sound and with an excellent attitude. And just one of the prettiest faces we have seen in a while. She has gained all her weight and some muscle and is ready for her new life.

I think Bella is going to be a very nice horse for someone. Bella LOVES to have her ears scratched.  She ties well, picks up her feet with no problem. And she hopped right into the trailer with no problem. Jeri put a saddle and bridle on her yesterday. She was quiet and accepting - even while chickens and a dog were milling around her feet.  Jeri got on and we led her around.  She was stellar - took it all in stride.  Jeri plans to spend more time with her under saddle soon. Her hooves are a little chipped but appear to be good and hard. They are short though and she is a little ouchy on the gravel.  I'd like to see more hoof there if she's going to be ridden - or she'll need shoes. She has put on weight since Jeri's had her but still a bit thin and of course needs some muscle. She's about 15.3. Lovely color and sweet temperament. She seems to get along well with geldings and mares and likes to share a manger of feed with another horse.  Here are some photos.  We'll send more when we have her under saddle again . Jeri has vaccinated Bella and given her a de-wormer.

I researched Bella's tattoo...H44744

She was born in British Columbia in 2004. Her registered name is Invader's Alibi.  Way back in her lineage is a mare named Brown Biscuit who was related to Seabiscuit through their common dam, Swing On.

Bella was raced at Emerald Downs in Washington in 2007. Then raced again in Vallejo at the Solano Fair in 2008.  Came in last both times. Good for her!

A just plain beautiful mare....she is very willing, good mind, very light mouth,  and readily gives her head. She is green - a bit unsure and lacks confidence but she doesn't react badly when she doesn't understand what you want. No vices at all. She really wants to learn and just needs a person of her own who will put the miles on her. A real diamond!
