Update for Melody: 5/10/09

Melody is ready for her forever home please ! She has relaxed and lost that desparate look. Halter marks have all but dissappeared. She has such a kind eye.

She is a very submissive gal who would just like a gelding to follow around and adore.

Teeth floated, wormed, bloodwork done. All is normal, including insulin. She does have a borderline Cushings reading but no systems. Farrier done and UPT on all shots. She is basically heathly. She does have some arthritis and ringbone so is not a riding horse - she has clearly been rode hard in her day. Lead lining for small kids once in a while is not out of the question though. Free on contract.

Twenty four hours ago you would have thought I was on the verge of starvation...I really wasn't -but I was about to pass from dehydration. But I'm a very resilient horse. I did not colic. I did pass really compacted manure tho.... Nice halter marks, huh. I am actually a pretty healthy horse....see below.

Update April 11- 09 : Doc Miller says my teeth have been recently floated. I have just had worming and all my shots and I am really about 27. He says I am really very healthy and only need some groceries. We have worked with her some but not with a saddle until she gains a little weight. I am recommending her as a companion, babysitter and possibly the grandkids leadline horse. Very very gentle and easy to handle. Sweet for all care needs. Trusting. However, does NOT care for carrots. I even juiced some and she turned up her nose. We will try some apple pieces. Horses. Go figure....

Melody really had some dinner plate feet going on. Thank you Katie Moore from Watermark Farm and her daughter Demi for transporting Melody and Jesse from the auction as well as returning later to give her an emergency trim so she would not develop quarter cracks. Dedicated and caring horse people; passing that value on from one generation to the next.

Melody is said to be trained to ride. At 27 I'm sure she was. She looks about 14.3. She is THE easiest horse to trailer. At the auction she went into a straight load AT LIBERTY. Sleeps at your elbow for farrier and vet work. Clearly has been worked with and loved on at some point in her life. So easy to handle. This is a very sweet horse. This is that rare grandkid material type.
