Red’s friends want people to know that he is a truly unusual horse, in their words “an exceptional being”, an “exquisite jewel,” who stands out for his sensitivity, integrity and clarity. When he looks in your eyes, he sees the real you. “Whoever gets him is really lucky … this is the truth. If you can take the time to be quietly 'with' Red, he will reward you by taking you on a loving journey straight into his heart and soul (and yours)."
Red is a registered Quarter Horse in his mid-teens who worked as a ranch horse until he was injured while herding cattle in the mountains. He is energetic, athletic, playful, charismatic, polite, and well-trained. Due to a spell with an abusive owner, he can be a little jumpy around people (mostly about his head) and may not be suitable for children. He gets along very well with other horses. He is fine with respectful hoof trimming, trailering, vetting, and other handling.
After three years of nutritional support and kind treatment, Red glows with health, but is still recovering from his injuries. His back or spine is his main issue. His feet are strong and healthy. He may be lightly rideable in the future.
