Sassy is a beautiful black bay that
loves trail rides and keeps up with
horses half her age. She tries very hard at all times
to keep herself clean and even admires herself in
rain puddles. Although she looks more like her Saddlebred
breeding, she has the ‘back pocket' personality of
the Arab half.
Sassy came to us as a sick, skinny
two year old sold to pay her boarding debt. Her very
first night home one of our horses opened her paddock
and let her out with all four of our pregnant mares
AND the stallion and by morning she was pregnant,
too. Sigh.... and so Irish Creme was born (see him
under separate listing). We have had them both ever
since and trained them to be excellent riding horses.
I can let them go if I know they are
together. My husband usually rode Irish while I rode
Sassy, but the half dozen times I rode him I could
have shut my eyes and wouldn't have known which horse
I was on.
I loved riding Sassy on the trails.
She was always ready to go and interested in everything
she saw and heard. I remember a ride at Shiloh Park
when she really did NOT want to go and neither did
any of the other horses. Of course, we made them go
anyway and the horses were spooked the whole ride.
In the paper the next day there was an article about
mountain lion sightings in the park that weekend.
From then on I paid a lot more attention to Sassy!
