Shahnessa

This is one of those stories that breaks your heart. The former owner did everything to try and care for her to the end. She has had her for 24 years. But the turn of events that left her penniless was astoundingly rapid. And her committment to her old show horse seemed impossible to fulfill. SAFER has taken in Shahnessa and is looking for that special someone that enjoys the old and wise ones.

She needs a low sugar diet of grass hay and low starch pellets. She gets along with others but will defend her food. She has known some hard times in her years of being a boarded horse - someone(human) used to steal her hay!!

She is sweet and well mannered and would love to live a little longer.

Maybe with you?

Call SAFER at 707-824-9543 to meet with this wonderful Arab senior.

Shahness's original owner was beside herself with relief and thankfulness....her is what she had to say:

OHH THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   TELL THE ADOPTER 'THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!

I just burst into tears reading this.  Its such a relief.  I have been dreading your call with the euthanization date for weeks.

And tell the voluteer 'Thank you very much' for giving Shahnessa attention and care, and the hoof trimmer also for me.

You can give the adoptor my contact info also. And if I can have hers as I would love to visit Shahnessa when I can.

This just made my day. I'm so happy!!!!

And especially thanks to YOU.  Shahnessa would not have had the rest of her life if it had not been for you!  And you have averted much grief for me.  Thank you SO MUCH.

Someone once told me that when you really need it, the right people will appear to help.  See, it IS true!!

My prayers were answered.

Thanks again!

OH HAPPY DAY!!
NOV 13th 2010

A miracle.....Melanie D. called to say she wanted to adopt this wonderful 29 year old soul! And we had been planning a euthanasia as no one else had called in over a year of having her!! I had prepared everyone and tried every last avenue....
Well there are no co-incidences in this world - Im sure Nessa has a wonderful message of love for her new owner.

She is not a horse that likes change - typical of the old ones - but today she stepped right into the trailer and never looked back. Her volunteer Mariah Robson and I communicated with her and spent a couple hours with her before she boarded so she was very prepared. She stepped out at the Santa Rosa Equestrian Center and was EXCITED and positive about her new life. She PRANCED and greeted her new owners with enthusiasm!
A huge THANK YOU to Kim K. for once again transported a horse to a new future.

We would like to thank Mark and Marsha Seeley for their gift of fostering for all this time - enabling Shahnessa to continue her journey in this life.
