LISTING
A HORSE

Our purpose in providing a free website and its associated newsletter outreach is to prevent displaced horses from winding
up dead - or worse. This can be from being picked up by
a kill buyer disguised as a family or by being used for
abusive Mexican Rodeo practices; often prior to being dropped
off for slaughter when "done with."
We are not horse dealers or a place to advertise your horse
for sale. The BAEN is a great resource for those wishing to ensure they are
receiving the maximum going rate for their horse, or for
those wishing to rehab and recoup the costs of doing so. Horses listed here are meant to be priced to find homes
quickly - often with kind hearted folks that want to lend
a hand. With a tremendous surplus of horses from over breeding
for the current market many fine animals go to slaughter
or are put down for lack of placements. Therefore no animal
listed here is to be over $1000; regardless of pedigree or
training. The price per pound at the Petaluma auction is currently around .05-.25
cents. (Fluctuates.) An untrained horse should be no more
than $400 regardless of pedigree. MANY of these are slaughtered
in the current horse surplus market.
There is a lot of competition on the internet for the attention
of folks looking for horses. Please be aware that a proper
amount of basic information is your best guarantee of quick
response. Certain pictures ensure that interest will be
followed up on. You are listed as the contact for adopting your horse - not SAFER. HOWEVER, we do have a contract that you can customize for your private placement. We HIGHLY
RECOMMEND the following pictures
and information of all horses;
regardless of listing category:
1)
Full side shot of entire body in good light - the light should be behind you - lighting the horse.
2)
Close up of head - a personable picture (yawning is cute
but doesn't really give a good
representation of your horse's personality)
3)
View from the rear of the horse
4)
Close up of the hooves
5)
Clear picture under saddle (or Video) if pertinent.
Good
information can inspire the reader to go further. Please
be absolutely honest about your horse's abilities and issues.
1)
Category- riding or companion
2)
Riding history and training level; performance info if
relevant. What level of rider would be best.
3)
Age and Sex. Health history, if known, any health challenges
including hooves
4)
Personality characteristics - please be very detailed
5) Cost and conditions of placement.
How
well does the horse stand for farrier and vet, bathing and
grooming? Ground manners are important.
EMAIL ALL THE INFORMATION TO INFO@SAFERHORSE.COM. ATTACH AS MANY GOOD PICTURES AS POSSIBLE. I WILL CONTRUCT A PAGE FOR YOU ON THE WEBSITE.
